How to Make-up Yourself This Spring!

When it comes to putting on the slap, bare is often beautiful. No one likes the plastered on look these days, nudes are all the rage.

Fortunately this spring the run way has produced some sleek yet colourful make up style’s. Sticking with the simple yet effective look some of this year’s biggest fashion shows have seen designers such as Stella McCartney using models wearing shades of green and blue on their eyes.

Big brows and big lashes are still in so don’t go throwing away all your packs of fake lashes, but just keep the eye liner more subtle and softly smudged. Focus on the areas you want to highlight; this will be a great way to emphasize the contrast of strong and subtle. By using colour or sparkle you can draw attention to particular areas such as eyes and lips as did Chanel and Gucci in their spring catwalk.

A must have this season is red lipstick; it was featured in a number of fashion shows by designers such as Burberry, Prada and Jean Paul Gaultier. Red can be worn during the day or in the evening, experiment with the wide variety of shades available like the dark and dramatic black cherry or matte crimson.  Another tip is to outline the outermost part of your lips in a red pencil; this makes them look bigger and fuller.

Through doing some research I’ve found a few products that come with high recommendations being the “must haves” of the spring season.

Bobbi Brown’s new spring line is full of pastels and watercolour shades. Some beautiful pinks, nudes and silvers perfect for the natural yet powerful look. With products for your lips, eyes and nails this range is definitely worth a check out.

A great product for protecting your skin as well as providing you with subtle coverage is BB Cream. This product can be bought from a number of high street shops such as Superdrug and Boots, ranging from £4 to £10. BB Cream is similar to tinted moisturiser except that it contains hyaluronic acid and antioxidants to regenerate the skin. It’s a great product to use in the warm weather; your skin is left covered, protected and flawless without that caked on look.

Max Factor and Maybelline have a great range of lip gloss and balm sticks. The colours on offer are bold neon colours again perfect for the subtle and strong contrast. Max Factor tends to start at around £8 but you can get the same type of product from a range of brands cheaper or more expensive. A gloss is a great way to draw attention to the lips yet keeping it simple and classy.

So remember girls, this spring it’s all about the neon colours, bright lips and flawless skin. It’s not always about buying the most expensive products; it’s knowing how to use them. Although with products such as foundation or mascara it’s sometimes a good idea to invest in a good quality one as it will last you longer and will be better for your skin.
